Thinking Bio-regionally: Reimagining the Waveney Valley, Suffolk, UK
Hodemedod’s and researchers from the Organic Research Centre will co-host a convention of local value chain stakeholders to reimagine what the Waveney Valley region of Suffolk in the UK would look like as a diverse agroecological food system.
As the DiverIMPACTS project approaches its final months this promises to be a significant moment as the community gathers to discuss how it can best support and benefit from their local diversified cropping systems. Participants will include local farmers, environmental organisations, councillors and policy makers, food processors and citizens. Members of the CS15 stakeholder network will share their experiences of working towards “Growing pulses and innovative crops for a less resource intensive diet”. The event will take place in the evening and include inspirational speakers, a panel discussion, as well as group visioning exercises to stimulate discussion. The event will provide an opportunity to celebrate what is already locally available to the region and attendees will record their involvement in their food system on a real-life map. Food and drink provided will be of local origin and chefs and brewers will share their stories.
