Protein autonomy and diversification
The objective of the meeting is to gather actors of the "Pays-de-la-Loire" (western France) agri-food system to discuss the following topics:
- How can cropping systems diversification contribute to the farm protein autonomy in the region "Pays-de-la-Loire"?
- What are the levers (technical, organisational, economic, regulatory, political) to mobilise or develop to overcome the current barriers?
After an introduction on challenges, four workshops will share initiatives in Pays de Loire and solutions built in other regions (France and Europe) and identify the actions to be undertaken to increase protein autonomy of farms. The workshops will tackle the following questions:
- What is the potential for substitution of imported soybeans by local soybeans (region, Europe) ?
- How can cereal-legumes intercropping can contribute to protein autonomy ?
- Can coordination between farmers and stockbreeders facilitate protein autonomy in a territory ?
- What strategies to improve the protein autonomy of livestock through the production and valorization of fodder ?
The meeting is organised by DiverIMPACTS, Groupement d'Intérêt Scientifique Grande Culture à Hautes Performances Economiques et Environnementales (GIS GC HP2E), Pays-de-la-Loire chamber of agriculture, Ecole Supérieure d'Agricultures d'Angers and Terrena cooperative.
